Today’s Groupon: for $28, you get a haircut, style, shampoo, and moisturizing treatment from a junior stylist (up to a $64 value) at Paul Pecorella Hair Salon & Spa in Yorkville.

For more than 45 years, Paul Pecorella Hair Salon & Spa has subdued savage strands with its arsenal of experienced stylists and high-quality Aveda products. After ogling the salon’s vibrantly hued atmosphere, guests can surrender tangled tresses to a member of the salon’s newly-minted follicular posse. Snuggle up in a cozy salon chair as a tonsorial artist cuts and textures locks with a haircut and style ($32–$47), designing a new mane that complements each individual personality, lifestyle, facial structure, and spirit animal. A noggin-nourishing moisturizing treatment ($17) completes the strandformation without encasing heads of hair in cocoon for the winter. All services are performed by the salon’s latest flock of coiffure contenders, all of whom are fully licensed and prepared to style the sadness out of melancholy mops.

Helmed by master stylist and creative visionary Paul Pecorella, the luxurious salon beautifies bodies and tames tresses in a setting that’s as sophisticated as a monocled supercomputer. Plush spa rooms, chic wall décor, and an abundance of natural light helps Paul Pecorella’s salon impart a sense of opulence and elegance, coaxing the inner fashionista out of every man and woman who enters.

Jamaica is only 234 kilometers in length, but it sure does pack in a lot of culture and cuisine. Every square inch of the island is constantly under the hypnotic aroma of some distinct dish. Everyone who doesn’t live in Jamaica is doing themselves a great disservice by not trying a taste of the Caribbean at least once. Luckily, we’ve got A Taste of the Islands to help those who are slow to the table.

Like everything else Jamaican, the food consumed by the people of Jamaica is uniquely their own. The Jamaican cuisine represents Tainos, Arawaks, and Caribs, which is a mix of different cultures that come together to make a melting pot of nationalities. The foods of Jamaica are a mix of African, Indian, Chinese, and European cuisine, but not to be forgotten is the first inhabitants of Jamaica, the hot chile peppers with their rich colour and texture.

About Baskin Robbins
http://www.baskinrobbins.ca/

Since 1945, Baskin Robbins has been practically synonymous with the word ice cream. Their penchant for tasting different versions of this creamy concoction led them to develop their trademark 31 flavours (one for every month). But over the years, they’ve created much more than just 31 different kinds of ice cream – Baskin Robbins lovers worldwide have had the chance to try over 1,000 different flavours of the company’s cold confection. Along with an ample selection of premium ice cream and frozen yogurt, Baskin Robbins also makes custom birthday ice cream cakes, soft serve ice cream, milk shakes, blasts, sundaes, hand-rolled waffle cones and more.

Trade your voucher for a cone topped with a classic ice cream flavour like Gold Medal Ribbon, Mint Chocolate Chip, Pralines ‘n Cream and Very Berry Strawberry. If you’re looking to go lighter, there’s low-fat yogurt, as well as sorbets and no sugar added options to choose from. Each location will have different flavours on feature. Savour the anticipation (just as you will your ice cream) in finding out just which 31 flavours will be available for the picking.

Today’s Groupon: for $78, you get a one-day introductory filmmaking course (a $281.37 value including HST) at Raindance’s Saturday Film School at the University of Toronto. Choose between two dates:

– Saturday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
– Sunday, March 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A day-long practical filmmaking course led by Raindance Film Festival founder Elliot Grove breaks the daunting cinema-creation process into digestible lectures, with separate talks on screenplay writing, production, directing, and breaking into the industry. Before committing the fancy-dancing and slow-punching scenes of your cinemagination to celluloid, it’s necessary to populate them with needy characters and filter them through an unpopular document known as a screenplay.

In the first 90-minute lecture, Elliot Grove will explain how to create coherent roles and arrange plot holes into a looping tunnel that critics will never escape. A talk full of nitty-gritty production tips follows, as Grove details the hard work of creating a budget, lighting scenes cheaply, shooting locations before they can call the police, and choosing a camera.

After a lunch break, director-producer Sean McConville will expound on the principles of direction, illustrating rules of camera placement and demonstrating the award- and money-based sign language used to communicate with actors. In a final one-hour session, Grove will explain how to craft CVs, negotiate pay, and make connections in the film industry. After the talk, participants meet in a nearby bar to play paper hockey with business cards and shoot guerilla-style footage for thrillers about drinking beer. Burgeoning film facilitators will also walk home with a 20-page handout packed with budget templates, a script-format guide, CV templates, and collectible gaffer trading cards.

Bombay Palace lays out a flavourful bounty of Northern Indian cuisine made with fresh and healthy ingredients. The menu reflects the diverse culinary stylings of the Indian subcontinent, from the succulent chicken tikka masala ($14.95) washed down with a brazen mug of masala tea ($2.95) to the seductive siren song of the fish madras ($16.95) guiding lost palates toward a pool of coconut curry sauce. In addition to meaty temptations, Bombay Palace serves up a number of vegetarian dishes, such as creamy saag paneer ($10.95), chopped spinach with cheese, or tangy Bombay aloo ($9.95), fresh potatoes marinated in a fenugreek-infused tomato sauce. The diverse wine list initiates Dionysian revelry and heartfelt discussions of about the legality of trying opossums in kangaroo court.
