Elmer is not like every gray elephant. His patchwork of vibrant colors along the spectrum—yellow, orange, red, pink, purple, blue, green, black and white—paired with his playful personality make him stick out in the herd. One day, Elmer decides he no longer likes being different and paints himself gray in order to blend in with his friends. But he soon discovers that hiding his true colors has the opposite effect as his community no longer recognizes the playful elephant he was once. Based on the book series by David McKee and adapted for the stage by Suzanne Maynard Miller with songs by Allison Leyton-Brown, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant teaches children important lessons on diversity and self-acceptance as Elmer realizes that his colorful coat and vibrant personality are what make him an integral part of the herd.
