After plating warm naan beside Indian dips ($6), chefs can wok-steam mussels in red thai curry ($15) or heap spiced long beans alongside crispy duck breast ($22). For the LunDin option, diners can peruse a selection of meat-filled and vegetarian-friendly entrees and then fill their plates to their appetites’ content.
The most important thing Winlai Wong learned from her father was how to play with fire. As the daughter of classically trained Chinese chef, she mastered the art of cooking with a wok while accumulating an encyclopedic knowledge of Chinese, Thai, and Indian cuisines. Based on this expertise, she created Spice Route’s pan-regional menu of refined Asian staples, which features fragrant curries alongside teriyaki-glazed steaks.
Embracing the same interplay of cultures and traditions, the dining room’s earth- and neutral-toned decor toes every possible side of the line between antiquity and modernity. Ironclad doors and patina-speckled sculptures help to create a historic feel, and the corrugated metal ceiling, exposed ductwork, and scanning electron microscope imbue the space with a contemporary air.
