It’s hard to say what the heaviest influence on Canadian music is — its been shaped by everything from Aboriginal, British and French styles. But for an evening of musical splendour that packs just as much international significance, head to the Yorkminster Citadel for today’s deal from the Chamber Music Gallery: pay $15 (regularly $30) for one ticket to hear the music of Haydn, Mozart & Piazzolla at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, featuring the world-renowned and four-time world champion accordionist, Alexander Sevastian, vioinists Atis Bankas and Albina Molodozhan, violist Anna Antropova, cellist Liza McLellan, and flutist and composer Dimitry Varelas. You’ll also receive a signed program of the concert’s repertoire, 50% off of a CD of Sevastian’s music, and the chance to meet the musicians during intermission. At this season finale for the Chamber Music Gallery, you’ll also hear the Canadian premiere of the piece “Still Life in Beige” by Varelas — just to bring your musical experience back home to Ontario.
