Since its start in 1978, Corned Beef House continues to heap eight centimetres of freshly cut and steamed meat between thick, freshly baked bread to create its signature two-fisted sandwiches. Platters include the shop’s popular Montreal smoked meat and corned beef ($13.25) sheared from preservative-free brisket before it’s stacked by construction crane onto a choice of light or dark rye, onion or regular kaiser, or marble bread. More platter options abound, such as the smoked turkey breast ($13.50) and the reuben ($14.90), all accompanied by a choice of fries or potato salad, plus coleslaw and a crisp, oversized kosher dill pickle.

Though not applicable to today’s Groupon, Corned Beef House hosts its Man Vs. Sandwich contest every Monday, challenging diners to eat a 40-ounce sandwich of their choice—including bread and pickle—within one hour.
