The Beaconsfield general manager Chris Harper told the Eye Weekly in 2011 that he envisioned the restaurant as a “hotel bar without the hotel.” A veteran of Toronto’s restaurant and nightlife scene, Harper was imagining something stylish yet inviting. His vision can be seen in The Beaconsfield’s interior: dark, robust banquettes line the wall, and sparkling light fixtures reflect off a stainless steel bar to create a glittering atmosphere.

In such casual environs, Chef Bernard Druxerman’s food shines. A combination of European bistro-style cuisine and international comfort food, the menu ranges from lasagna Bolognese to spicy lamb curry. At the bar, bartenders pour several imported and domestic beers as well as reds, whites, and sparkling wines from behind the wooden bar.
