$99 for a Four-Week French or Spanish Survival-Skills Language Course ($330 Value)
Introductory, two-hour group classes meet twice a week inside classrooms at the international school’s Toronto campus, a beautifully renovated Victorian mansion and Canada Heritage site. Up to 12 students in each session focus on speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar, with a focus on oral communication and targeted language use. Classes take place at 6:30 p.m.; see the schedule for available dates.
Sol Schools International helps people communicate across lingual boundaries in the increasingly connected world of the 21st century. With four campuses in the cosmopolitan cities of Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and Miami, the school’s staff designs a curriculum of language courses for a diverse student body. English teachers immerse students in the quirks and structure of the language Shakespeare invented during general- or business-language courses, as well as the more focused certificate classes—TOEFL, FCE, CAE, etc.—required for many universities and employers. Junior camps, on the other hand, plunge students aged 4–17 into an educationally and culturally enriching opportunity to study abroad in North America or Europe.
Along with its English programs, the school teaches casual learners and travelers French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Mandarin, and other languages. And for those who could never convince their nephews to address them as “sir,” TESL teacher training puts careers on the path toward ruling a kingdom the size of a classroom.
