Dedicated to spreading awareness and encouraging research of traditional Chinese medicine, the 14th World Congress on Qigong and TCM 2012 brings together experts on traditional Chinese treatments and martial arts. The opening ceremonies kick off with a performance of classic tunes played by the Toronto Chinese Orchestra. Also gracing the stage, a traditional lion dance by Sunny Tang Martial Arts shows off skillful footwork beneath bright leonine costumes and infuriates felines who weren’t allowed to show off their human dance. Opening addresses from such eminent qigong and Chinese medicine experts as Grandmaster Dr. Effie Chow and Master Justin Ngui prime guests for the upcoming conference before Sunny Tang Martial Arts’ students return to the stage to show off acrobatics, tai chi, and martial-arts forms. Finally, the Yun Dance Studio performs a traditional Chinese dance, and the Shaolin Temple Quanfa Institute demonstrates its chi-channelling abilities with flowing exercises and prodigious displays of centred strength.
