Multiple Locations
When it comes to building lifelong skills, the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems (IRIS) combines science, technology, engineering, and math—as well as tons of creativity.
In their camps and classes kids as young as 5 progress from STEM-based learning to STEAM-based learning, which incorporates art to the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics of STEM. Campers will learn how to design and build their own Lego models, then bring them to life through a variety of platforms. They’ll start with the basics, WeDo robotics, a tethered system that seamlessly bridges static models with simple movements. As kids hone their skills they’ll graduate up to more complex systems, like Mindstorm EV3 or go full digital in Minecraft projects.
Kids who are ready to show off their work can collaborate with fellow students to create awe-inspiring robots for the First Lego League—a competition that the IRIS team has taken first or second place in every year since 2014.
