L’Avenue Bistro feels very much like a traditional French neighborhood bistro, with its rustic French comfort food and intimate dining room adorned with antique pieces. Tables cloaked in white tablecloths are topped with plates of croque monsieur sandwiches or quiches during lunchtime, and duck-leg confit or a beef Bourguignon—that some diners claim is one of the best outside France—for dinner. Their from-scratch French onion soup and ever-popular steak frites round out a menu that artfully combines seasonal and local ingredients.

The bistro’s decor mixes antique mirrors and chandeliers with reclaimed wood and vintage ads from France. A partially-open kitchen where visitors can chat with the chefs adds to the old-world charm. In the corner, white pitchers and decorative bottles of wine rest on a bright blue French-farmhouse-style cabinet, comprising an extensive selection of French and international wines selected by owner and sommelier Otta Zapotocky.
