It’s not unusual to hear Creole jazz in the casual dining room at La Creole. The worldly tunes come courtesy of live musicians, who take to the stage on weekends in tribute of French Caribbean, Creole, and Haitian cultures—much like the menu does. Other nights call for different cultural events, such as screenings of foreign films. Yet whatever the occasion, diners can expect a few constants: creole-themed decor and authentic food that echoes the restaurant’s soundtrack.
Amouse-bouche dishes start meals off with items like savory beignets before the big items come out. Those include Creole-influenced burgers and entrees such as the restaurant’s signature Poul La Creole: roasted chicken in rice and Creole sauce. La Creole also boasts a popular drink menu with signature cocktails like Le Kremas, made with rum and coconut milk sourced direct from whole coconuts. In their review of the restaurant, The Globe and Mail recommended “you shouldn’t leave without trying one.”
