Members of the Toronto police force relive their days at the academy in the 130th Annual Toronto Police Games, a one-day exhibition of speed, brawn, and teamwork held at the Rogers Centre for the 20th consecutive year. In front of a spirited crowd, teams of officers flex their muscles during games of tug-of-war, flaunt their perp-catching agility while barrelling through a challenging obstacle course, and resist the urge to ticket their opponents during relay races. Also performing during the afternoon, the Toronto Argonauts cheerleaders keep spectators on their feet, and The Ultimate Canines perform four-legged stunts and tricks. As always, the games feature timeless traditions such as an officer parade and an exhibition of police vehicles and equipment, which lets kids get a close-up look at the inside of a squad car before they even consider stealing cookies again. All proceeds from the event directly support the Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund.
