945 Bloor St. W Toronto, Ontario
Today’s GrouponLive deal: for $20, you get a comedy night for two at Comedy Bar (up to a $44 total value). Each comedy night includes the following:
- Two tickets to a weeknight or weekend show (up to a $24 value)
- $20 voucher toward pub fare and drinks from the menu
The producers at Comedy Bar populate their main stage and cabaret space with local and nationally touring acts that have helped earn accolades such as Best Comedy Club from the readers of Now. On July 5, Toronto-based comedian Bobby Mair hits the main stage, poking fun at a variety of topics that could range from his karaoke-singing neighbor to his own senior-prom mishap. Funnyman Jimmy Pardo—known from his weekly podcast Never Not Funny, which was rated the No. 2 paid podcast hosted by a comedian—improvises an entire set on July 13. The club also lassos laughs with an assortment of comedic collectives, with Theatresports improv battles on Saturday nights in the cabaret space, and a Saturday Night Live–inspired variety show on Sunday nights on the main stage.
The servers at Comedy Bar fuel guffaw muscles with a well-stocked menu of pub grub, which houses hearty platters such as the bacon cheeseburger ($10) as well as deliciously leafy plates, from mixed greens tossed in signature grapefruit or miso-ginger vinaigrette ($7) to the pear-and-chevre salad ($7.50). Draft beers from local breweries including Mill Street and Sleeman join in on the revelry by giggling when poured ($5.75/pint).
