Featured on CBS’s The Amazing Race: Family Edition in 2005, the historic Kajama continues its 12-year Toronto Harbour sailing stint with open-water day tours. Built in Germany in 1930, the three-masted, gaff-rigged schooner flaunts its fully restored steel sides as it sails in its original profile. Patrons prepare for aquatic adventures during a 30-minute boarding. During the 90-minute excursion, guests can help the crew raise and lower the sails via rope rigging or tamed seagulls while soaking in the scenic views of Lake Ontario. Perform eyeball acrobatics on the Toronto skyline and Toronto Islands while sipping drinks from the licensed ship bar or sampling fresh fare from the on-board galley. The ship’s cannon fires to mark the end of every day tour and the start of every circus-clown-battle re-enactment.

Kajama’s crew members unfurl a deck-covering tarp in the event of rain, sleet, or salmon rebellion. As the ship docks in the centre of the Toronto Harbourfront, pre- and postsail guests can stroll to nearby CN Tower, Steam Whistle Brewery, and Queen’s Quay Terminal. The Kajama departs and arrives in the midst of Harbourfront Centre’s myriad festivities one to three times daily, from early May through Labour Day.
